ABOUT

“I love the thought that in one performance I could be singing songs from Madame Butterfly as well as Bonnie Tyler – I mean, who else gets to do that!

Lyric soprano & Puccini specialist, Vanessa West was born in Melbourne, and debuted internationally as Liú in Turandot and Flora in La Traviata in Florence with the L'estate Fiesolana Opera Festival.

In Australia, Vanessa has performed the roles of Gilda in ‘Rigoletto’, Cio-Cio-San in ‘Madama Butterfly’, Fiordiligi in ‘Cosi fan tutte’ and Donna Anna in ‘Don Giovanni’ with Melbourne Opera. Most recently, Vanessa returned to the stage to sing the title role of Santuzza with Maleny's production of 'Cavalleria Rusticana'.

Vanessa has performed extensively in Italy and Asia, including at Rome's Festival Euro Mediterraneo and various concerts including the 51st Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago.

Her love of all things 80s and opera has seen her record several Popera pieces - which allows her to bring out her inner Bonnie Tyler.

Vanessa has written and performs in her own one-woman-show ‘The Puccini Effect’.
